Unpublished? Written a
work that they say won't pay? A great story that ought to sell but hasn't? A
lot of very good books are never seen by the public simply because agents
are blinkered or publishers too greedy to accept anything not guaranteed to
make millions. But maybe you can do something...

Junction - |
(see also links at page bottom) * Infinity Junction is a
publisher and bookseller, an organisation originally set up to help the best
unrecognised writers get known by the public and help previously published authors to get back in.
Infinity Junction also sells books for other publishers, like Horseshoe
Publications, British Dyslexics and Duprevent, for who we offer internet sales - and maybe your book too.
* We can
arrange for low capital outlay short-run Print-On-Demand style production,
or full high-quality book production, or you can take advantage of our
professional typesetting facilities to arrange your own printing and
binding. Importantly we offer a ready made on-line credit-card and mail
order outlet for books.
* Sometimes, only for books
we would like to publish but which we cannot undertake in the immediate
future due to other financial commitments, we may offer 'collaborative'
publishing; where we properly publish and register it in our name but financed by
you. Print runs for these are usually longer than Print-On-Demand style
producers can do economically and also, being 'properly published' by a
recognised wholesale supplier, we are able to apply a degree of marketing
beyond the internet to help get your book onto bookshop shelves. (Details
upon request.) * For print-runs in low hundreds or more we are
usually cheaper and better quality than POD 'publishers.'
*
All books we choose to publish under the Infinity Junction imprint are
professionally produced to top bookshop quality and fully registered with
the British Library and other international
authorities.
* We also sell carefully selected self-published
books, (not necessarily registered.) Authors considering self-publishing are
encouraged to e-mail us first: we are experienced in this field, have
numerous trade contacts, and can offer a number of services, including help
and advice, much of which is free by e-mail.
* For
less popular subjects and also for very long books (when production costs
would be high) then electronic publishing might be considered. It's not a
perfect solution because as yet none of the major concerns can agree on a
standard format and if you choose to go in some of the more secure systems,
you'll end up paying for special software etc. Also your copyright is not as
safe due to the comparative ease with which they can be copied, even in
'protected' form. Apart from software, production and transmission costs are
minimal and therefore it is easier to make a profit without putting prices
up to high street shop levels. We have several 'electronic texts' on our
list.
Subject matter
- Infinity Junction (the organisation)
is not interested in publishing or selling just any old work however. We
have a preference for intelligent and slightly unusual works, but not
quirky. We hope to cultivate something of a niche for high quality work
which is not quite of sufficient commercial potential to attract large
publishers. The motto 'interesting reading' sums up our guiding
principle and there are limits as to what is
acceptable.
In the first instance priority is given to
thought-provoking works. We are also looking for humour and may make another
anthology along those lines. Minority interests and sports, semi-academic
works, biographies etc would also fit in. A slight anti-establishment bias
to fiction and humour is likely to appeal to us. Infinity Junction does
consider more mainstream subjects, indeed quite a lot of our slots have been
given to such works, but you will have to convince us of its quality, if for
no other reason than we're suspicious of commercial material which hasn't
already sold. (Suburban angst, quaint-characters-in-the-country and
romance-in-Venice types are unlikely to appear in the Infinity Junction
catalogue.)
We produce a comprehensive writers and authors guide - equally useful for unpublished writers and seasoned ones, especially if not be fully up to date; whether or not you are specifically interested in Infinity Junction, our Budding Bestseller guide is highly recommended and is good value at only UK£3 when sent by e-mail. It's a genuinely practical ±36,000 word
self-help book, which does NOT push our services, but looks at all aspects
of writing, improving and selling your work, including agents, big-name
publishers and self-publishing. It is printed on demand and regularly updated so it's probably the most modern guide around.
See details of
Budding Bestseller guideIf you have a book
you'd like us to consider, please submit a full description,
or for fiction, a proper synopsis of no more than about 800 words plus
brief background (as above) to: infin-input@infinityjunction.com
or write (see link below) - NO manuscripts please: at present we cannot
undertake to read unsolicited material longer than a synopsis.
We will
also look at short stories, either with a view to including it in one
of our printed anthologies, or for display in our writers showcase at inter-read - a sister website of Infinity Junction - more details displayed there.
We prefer short stories to be at the lower end of average length, ie below 2500
words, but any length will be considered.
